Yikes~
That time has already snuck up behind us! Daddy left for Haiti just hours ago. Thankfully we did a little preparing to make the 14 day trip a little easier on everyone. We even had a little fun getting our "Daddi-o ready to head out. It took a few mommy and me dates, and a bit of secrecy from little bear. We have never been apart for longer than 4 or 5 days befire this, but when you are called to do something saying no is not really an option, so here we are. We put together (scrapped) a mini album for Cole that Daddy will journal his sights and thoughts in and then add pictures to when he gets home. He also went out and got Cole a new "snuggle buddy" for whenever he starts to miss his Daddy. Although no amount of preparation kept the tears at bay!
Cole went out with his Mommy to "play" in the photo booth at the mall! This was a fabulous date well worth the money! I will never forget the laughs we shared in the silly booth. We added some of Daddy's favorite candy to our silly photos and tucked them in Daddy's well packed back pack as a surprise. I cannot wait to get the message that he has "found" them!
Mommy, Cole and of course Chase are all at home and daddy is going to Haiti to build 4plexes with foam blocks! I know it sounds a little weired but check out Lazarianhomes.com to see what that is all about. This will be the 1st trip of this kind in Haiti and will hopefully help get a plant set up to produce the blocks needed for these types of projects in that region. I had the pleasure (and plenty of laughs) watching the team do their 1st project with these block a few years ago down in Mexico. If done right you can practically build a house in a day! Today we found out that 2 of the 3 Containers that were sent months ago, finally arrived at the Samaritans purse compound and have been opened up and are ready for the team as soon as they arrive. I also learned that there are over 700 people on that compound and that they are all pretty desperate for some good old fashion American treats and snacks. Apparently there is a whole lot of rice and beans being served up in the compound ;) Everyone packed a little something for their soon to be new friends, but I can only imagine how far the snacks of 20 visitors will go amongst 700. We need a real reenactment of a fabulous bible story here ;)
Anyway, keep them all in your prayers, there is a Typhoid outbreak in the area they are working in and of course there are thousands of sick and grieving people throughout.
Til' next time,
The Schumacher's
