Tis' the season for cold and rainy days and somehow we automatically usher in the sickies at the same time, go figure. My little man has been bouncing off the walls between being trapped for the sickies, and then the rain came down like I have not seen in years! After a solid 2 weeks inside, I could see my outdoorsman was going to blow . . . so off went the mommy with the sickies to pick up some much needed necessities from the craft store, and then an afternoon digging up my recycled treasures. Here are a few of our favorite rainy day projects . . .
1. Do The Elephant Stomp:
Dig up your giant sized Tomato cans (You might want to make spaghetti tonight) and using your old school punch can opener pop 2 hole in 2 cans and drain and wash them out. Cut 2, 60 in Nylon stretch cords and string them through the holes and knot the ends together. Then you can paint on some elephant toe nails with Acrylic paint. Place your child feet on the cans and let them hold the cords to help them hold their elephant stompers on. See image above.
Another super simple project (although the end result is a bit noisy):
2. Cap Taps
Take two washed metal snapple lids (or anything similar) and wash them. Punch 2 holes in either side of the caps (you can use an awl) then string laces or yarn through the holes and tie them on to the child shoes with caps on the bottom. Tap Tap away!
Check back later this week for more old school fun filled rainy day projects!
